Procedure for applying Break of study
Procedure for applying Break of study
Break of Study Policy
A candidate is normally not permitted to take a break from the study. However, if a candidate intends to temporarily discontinue the program in the middle for valid reasons (such as accident or hospitalization due to prolonged ill health) and to rejoin the program in a later respective semester, he or she shall seek the approval from the Principal in advance. Such application shall be submitted before the last date for payment of the examination fee of the semester and forwarded through the Head of the Department stating the reasons for such withdrawal together with supporting documents and endorsement of his or her parent or guardian.
The institute shall examine such an application and if it finds the case to be genuine, it may permit the student to temporarily withdraw from the program. Such permission is accorded only to those who do not have any outstanding dues or demands at the College or University level including tuition fees, any other fees, library materials, etc.
The candidate has to rejoin the program after the break from the commencement of the respective semester as and when it is offered.
The total period for completion of the program, reckoned from the commencement of the semester to which the candidate was first admitted, shall not exceed the maximum period specified. The maximum period includes the break period.
If any candidate is detained for any reason, the period of detention shall not be considered as a “Break of Study”.
